View Full Version : nibbling on findgers
The last few mornings Lucy has tried to wake me up by nibbleing on my fingers. I don't know why she does this. Could it be her way of saying mom I'm hungry? :dunno:

Yeah it could be her way of saying she wants food or maybe she wants some attention.
My 3 cats, EJ is the only 1 who will try to wake me up in the mornings. He will jump up on the bed, walk on me, sit down & then knead me while purring away & meowing very quietly. Lucy will sometimes sit on my pillow & fall asleep, Lady hasn't found her nitch to wake me up yet, but I'm sure she will...LOL! :D
That sounds so sweet. Unless it is myself that is getting up LOL!!!!!!!!!!

LOL...I wind up getting up early to feed them all on the weekend because EJ is so persistant in wanting his food. :catlol: It's not soo bad during the week as I get up early, but the weekends I like to sleep in, but NO not with my spoiled babies. They all act like they have been starved for a week or something.

Skit chews on Skye's feet in the morning - not nibbles, CHEWS. She's a bit on the demanding side :P Morphia usually comes up to me for pets when I'm in bed. Apparently, my being in bed is "Morphia" time - last thing at night and first thing in the morning :)
Yes Lucy has her usual at bedtime. At night we go in once we are in bed then daddy comes in to say good night (before he goes to work) Lucy gets his attention and a few treats. Then she comes to me for nuzzle time and a belly rub. She is so funny she will stand next to me to be petted then she drops down and rolls for the belly rub. LOL She is a chubby cat and it is so funny seeing her do this. In the morning (she doesn't sleep on the bed Her choice not mine) I think she gets to warm. I have a trunk next to the bed with a bunch of fleece blankets on it that she claimed her second night here. When she wants to get up she will stretch onto the bed and nibble my fingers. Then she starts with her chirpping noise. When I finally open my eyes she stretchs and then lays in her lion pose and purrs very loudly. I wish she would sleep in bed with me but I think maybe at her other home she wasn't allowed to sleep on the bed.:D

LOL...Lucy sounds like a little character, I like it! :D
Oh yes Lucy is a real character. She is always doing somethings. She lets us know what she wants and if it is food she will not stop until she gets it. LOL She can get very very loud with her chattering. I would give her up for a million dollars. LOL

This is my 1st post and my beloved 16 year old Maine Coon Cat passed on the 13th after being diagnosed with cancer.
We always spent quality bed time together even though she would sleep on the bed when I was sleeping.
The last 2 months of her life she too to nibbling and licking my finger while I was reading in bed before sleep.
She never exhibited this behavior before in the 15 1/2 years we were together.
Did she know her time was short and was showing Papa how much she loved me?

She could have been showing her love, appreciation & affection for you. You had her a long time, that was 15 1/2 years of alot of love, being spoiled & also giving you a whole lot of love as well. You both were very lucky to have each other.

Thanks Sapphire.
I'm just curious about the behavior, Samantha was 16 when she passed and I had her for 15 1/2 years.
Almost every night during that time I would read in bed before going to sleep and Samantha would be on my right side and later when I got her little Chiquita would be on my left.
If Samantha felt that she was being ignore she would bat the paper or book, saying Papa "Don't you know who I am?"
But she never nibbled on my fingers until about the last 2 months of her life, I found it very sweet and would caller Daddy's Nibbler after the character in the cartoon "Futurama".
It just seems kinda strange that she picked up a new behavior so late in life, I don't think there was anything on my hands that attracted her.
Her previous behavior was to rub her cheeks in my hand and then I would scratch the top of her head, her ears or under the chin.
I would tell her what a good little girl she was and she would just glow.
It's amazing how our little friend respond to our words of praise.
