Hi, my cat was missing for 9 days and returned himself but in a bad way. His tail was nearly cut off (the Vet said it was caught in a snare/trap). My cat would have been trapped for the full 9 days until someone eventually released him.
He lost a lot of weight, the vet said he was actually starved.
His tail had to be amputated. He is now recovering.

But now, his hair has started to fall out. He is actually bald on a big section of his back and the Vet said its due to the trauma/stress and the skin has just shut down. The poor thing...

Just so everyone knows, that cats hair does fall out due to stress!

It will take months to grow back.....

Yes cats hair can fall out due to stress. They also pull their hair out because of stress. I adopted my Lucy about 2 months ago. She had a nasty daddy before. Lucy pulled her hair out on her back on both sides of her hips. It took about 4 or 5 weeks to grow back. But she needed to feel safe. Once she felt safe here in her new home she stopped pulling her hair out. She now has all hair back. It looks beautiful. You may want to keep your cat inside from now on. Once they get that stressed out if they don't feel safe they can start pulling the hair out. I never let my cats out. It's a tough world out there for them. Once they are used to inside living they may have a hard time with stress if they go outside. There are so many things out there that can harm them. So if you keep her inside then you know she will be out of harms way, and stress free.

Aww the poor baby, I'm sorry that happened to your cat maddness. :(

Give your cat lots of love & also keep him/her inside the house. Make it comfortable for him/her so that he/she will feel comfortable & safe again.

It will take time, but he/she will feel safe again & learn to trust all again. Keep on giving him/her love, spoil the cat & he/she will be OK in time, but be patient as cats aren't very trusting to begin with. You add in a trauma & it's going to take some time for her/him to trust again.
