Hello all!

My name is Tonya. I'm 23, married (for 3 years), and the proud owner/slave to 2 fabulous cats.

Let me tell you a little about them.

First, is Martha. She was adopted right after I got married in Aug 2006. She was in the rescue I volunteered with in Bremerton, WA. They originally rescued her during Hurricane Katrina. I watched for a few months as people would look at her during adoption days, but move on once they realized she wasn't easy to approach (she was stressed in a cage, so she did lash out at those who moved too quickly, or touched her paws/belly).

Took me a while to gain her trust to the point she approached me for petting and even purred. Of course, that was the selling point, and I knew I would be adopting her. She's estimated to be about 5 years old. Happy & healthy, and a lot more social than back in 2006. She used to hide from everyone but us, and now she'll approach guests and demand attention.

Second, is Jethro. He came around while I was still living in WA, too. He showed up one day because I had food out for a local feral, and stayed around after seeing Martha. They would sit on opposite sides of the sliding back door, and fall asleep looking at each other. (Don't let that deceive you though, she's a bully so it's not always a peaceful household) He showed up around August 2008 and it took until the end of January 2009 before I had his trust enough to catch him and bring him indoors. He went to the vet to make sure he was healthy and no risk to Martha. They are now living relatively peaceful together.

It took him a few months to warm up to my husband, and surprisingly enough he came out and allowed a couple of my good friends to pet him. He's very skittish and untrusting, though. Not quite a feral, but I'm pretty convinced he was out on his own for a while, and that's why he has a lot of trust issues towards humans.

((Was going to post pictures of them, but "You are only allowed to post URLs to other sites after you have made 15 posts or more." so I guess it'll have to be a ''coming soon''? LOL))

Welcome to Fat Cat, glad that you joined us here.

What a nice intro, it's nice to hear about how you came to have your fur babies in your life.

Sorry about having to post 15 posts before you can post links or pictures. We have had trouble in the past with spammers that forced us to do things like this.

Good thing is though that we have alot to read & post to so you can get your 15 posts very quickly. I'm looking forward to seeing you online posting more with us soon.
