I was wondering whether to get my 2 month-old Uli her own bed or not...
Do cats really need their own bed? I see Uli sleep virtually anywhere in my room... I want to get her a nice bed, but I'm not sure if she'd use it...
What do you guys think?

No, you don't have to get Uli a cat bed if you don't want to.
I think some people (myself included) get cat beds so the cats can have something that is totally theirs.
I had 2 cat beds for my cats, they did use them, but we wound up getting rid of them as they weren't really clean friendly. I was hard to vaccum the hair off of them or to even wash them. So now we have a big fluffy comforter on the floor where we had the beds for the cats if they choose to sleep there, which they do.
Uli may use the bed & she may not, it's all up to how she sees the bed if you get 1 for her.

Hey Sapphire!!! Long time since I have been in here girly...Just wanted to add my two cents on this subject.
My cats, which I have three, have found their own little nooks in this house that they like to call their beds. I tried buying a bed for my oldest when she was just a baby and she would never have anything to do with it...so out the door it went. She now sleeps in Mom & Dad's bedroom in the playhouse that they have in the corner. My other two sleep on the couch...so if getting a cat bed for your little one works...more power to ya! All mine seem to do was to use it as a scratching post and they have four of those already. LOL

Well, I've had quite a few cats (when I was growing up my parents had a total of 14 cats)..since I left home I have had 6... In my experience cats will sleep anywhere... then they seem to have 'IT' spots! like all of a sudden they will go & sleep somwhere then suddenly change - they don't ignore their favourite 'old best' places forever but just spend more time elsewhere... going back 'once ina while' - We bought our cats a 'tree' thye never really spent any time in the niches for a good 2 yrs..then all of a sudden one niche became their favourite spot (same for both brother & sister who took turns) this lasted about 6 months...then one started going into an other niche on the cat tree... & ...they just change 'spots' every once in awhile.... If you can afford a cat tree I recommend one to anyone with cats...
1. they have somewhere to 'do' their claws & therefore don't on the furniture
2. They love being 'up above' & looking down..

All my life we have had cats.. the ones we have bought beds for completely ignore them. Ive had cats that would rather lay on a towel than a bed. My two decided long ago that one was going to sleep on my head and the other on the pillow next to me and thats how they always are.

Both of my cats loved their cat beds before we moved (and they only had access to the master bedroom, since I didn't trust the roommates to keep the place cat-friendly, close doors, etc.).
But, since we moved into a place of our own, and we got La-Z-Boy furniture....
Yea, our furniture is their oversized kitty beds. Heck, they don't even seem to sleep on our bed anymore! (Kinda miss that!)

I've bought cat beds for my kitties, but they much prefer the couch, a pile of clothes, the middle of the floor, etc. :) I wouldn't waste your money.

My cat totally ignored his bed for probably 5 years. Now he is in it, sleeping, at least once a day. I am just speculating here, but maybe when we buy these things they are finished off with a fabric protectant from the manufacturer that is off putting to them.
I also have a throw pillow that has a soft plush furry feel and is too mushy to actually give a person's back any support. I got it for him. The same thing happened. After about 5 years of ignoring it, it is his favorite and when we pet him he will often start kneading the pillow.

Never had any success with a cat bed, neither of my cats showed any interest. My current cat ino loves a form fitting box though!
