Hello,

I just recently bought a cat yesterday, shes 4 months old.
When i saw her at the shelter she was very calm, didn't mind being held and was active and not shy.

When i brought her to the house she was VERY VERY scared, she ran straight under my bed. Later in the day i put my hand under the bed she came up to my hand and wanted to be pet and purred, but she still hasnt come out from under the bed. So ive been spending time with her and she has come out and come on the bed to me and purrs and loves to be pet and does that thing where she pushes her paws into me.

The only thing is when i brought her out to to show her the litter and just placed her down on the hallway she paused, and ran really quickly back under the bed, i don't understand why she's so scared of the house but can come out of the bed in the room.

She's also afraid of any noises.

Also would it be a factor that she had a sister and the fact that she got separated from her.

I understand that shes new the home and stuff, but it just so frustrating and breaks my heart to see her like that, hiding under the bed, wont come out, doesn't wonder the house. :(

I have Photos of her under the bed, but i cannot post them...

Welcome to the Fat Cat Forum, glad that you have joined us here. :)

It may take some time for your new kitty to get used to the house, the sounds, smells etc. before she feels comfortable enough to explore more.

Cats are so different from each other in that, 1 can be all about the house checking things out, while another might find a "safe haven" & stick there for a bit. Maybe coming out once in a while to check things out.

I say continue doing what you are doing with her, spend some time with her. Take her out of the bedroom for a little bit each day to show her the rest of the house. When you do, shut the bedroom door so that she can't run back right away & see if that will help her to explore a bit more.

I know it's sad to see her under the bed, but she will get used to the house eventually, just give her some good loving & show her around a little bit each day & I think she will be fine.

Thanks for the advice.

A day ago she went number 2 on my moms bed and not in the litter, she goes pee in the litter, but went number 2 on her bed. How do i stop this? She knows where her litter is she pee's there all the time. :(

You may have to put her in the litter box a bit more often, even if she doesn't have to go.

Show her a bit more that the litter box is for her to both 1 & 2. As she's a kitten I think she will make a few boo boo's before she gets it right.

Try to be a bit more patient oh & also, when you see her going #1 in the litter box, praise her a bit, that way she knows she's doing a good thing & will see the litter box as a good thing & hopefully use it for #2.
