Many people say that dog is mans best friend, with cats coming in at a second in the most popular pets category. But some people think that our fabulous feline friends are making a comeback against those dog-gone dogs. What do you think about this? Are cats replacing dogs in the mans best friend slot? Post your opinions here.

I could not really give an accurate explanation for your statement but one noticeable fact is that we have one dog and six cats in our household. Are cats populace greater then dogs?

I think that cats are more convenient and we are becoming a more convenient society. More of us are traveling for the weekends..going to grandmas out of town, or just plain busy at work and our indoor companions with potties in the house simply require less work than fido did!! A full bowl of food and clean water and a nice clean litter box can keep a cat over night if need be...but dogs won't walk themselves and are much more known to finish an extra helping of dog food the minute the bowl is laid down.

We also are more crowded and have less room for dogs. Many of us are in apts or homes with smaller yards and neighbors much closer than we would have had 50 years ago. So, our cats are much more easily accomodating to this lifestyle.

I cannot pick I love them both. I have six cats and about 30 or so dogs. I have 5 acres and everyone gets along fine even with the horses and our neighbors cow who loves our yard.

I love cats a lot more than dogs, and I think they are making a comeback. Many more people are getting cats nowdays. I mean, a friend of mine has over 30 cats, and one dog. In aincient egypt, people belived cats to be gods and protectors. I don't know how that view changed to dogs, but maybe cats came reclaim some of that lost glory and respect that they deserve.

I think it all just depends on the individual person as to what their preference is, I personally like both cats and dogs, but I do have more cats than dogs, and I have to agree that cats are easier to care for, although my dog is more protective:)

It really is a personality thing, I have one of each a dog, black lab, and Kris , my cat. i could not imagine loving one moe than the other. The dog is good for playing with, taking long walks with, and riding along in the car on cooler months, Kris is my cuddler. i just adore them both!

I like both, they both have different positives and negatives. It is what you like personally and you just have to make up your mind and decide either or both. I think overall pets in general are making a big comeback in society.

I have always preferred cats. :) I like dogs, I just don't love them the way I do cats. Our house has 2 dogs and 2 cats, with only one of the cats being mine, but they all get along fairly well. I think it's one of the reasons my cat seems to have some dog traits in him. I know I'll always prefer cats to dogs. ;)

I prefer dogs. When you are having a great day and are so full of energy your dog will always be ready, willing and able to go for a walk. If you are having a lousy day and all you want is to sulk away to yourself your dog is always right beside you with its head on your lap. In short so what if you have to walk your dog, i'd still rather have my favourite companion with me any day.

LOL...what a cute picture orion! :D

I've had both dogs & cats & I have to say I've grown to love cats more than dogs. I do love dogs, but they need more care than cats do.

I like knowing that I can go away for a day & know my little babies will be just fine. Give them a little extra food, water & clean their litter box & they are A OK. I also know that I won't come home to a mess, they are well behaved & won't tear my home up like a dog may when he/she becomes bored.

Lots of dog breeds I like and would enjoy having but dogs, of course, provide and demand different kinds of affection than cats. I prefer cats, but dogs are a great creation too.

I have both dog and the Cat also and both of them are good friends while they also take there meal together so i think it is the fact that Dog and Cat are good friends.
