(I get a mailer from the Animal Welfare League & in this issue I got a couple days ago there is the sweetest portion that the President of the Animal Welfare League wrote talking about cats. I want to share it with you all...)
A Letter from the President
I have always been a dog person and love all animals. I share my home with both dogs and cats. The older I get, the more I have come to appreciate the wisdom of my cats, all cats for that matter. I have found the answer for those of you who aren't quite ready for the work involved with bringing a dog into yoru home.. "Why not a cat?"
Cats love you in a deep, sublte way.
Cats are entertaining to watch and fun to play with, making the simplest article a play toy.
Cats will cuddle up with you on any evening and watch a movie. (Movie choice doesn't matter.)
Cats are clean animals, bathe themselves and require less grooming.
A cat's purr is instantly calming and relaxing.
Cats provide companionship. They make a better friend than some of the people I know.
Cats have their own individual personalities and styles. They can be a real social butterfly.
Cats are, for the most part, fairly independent. You can stay out late or go away for the weekend and as long as they have a clean litter box, fresh water and food, they can take care of themselves. They do like other kitty friends to live with.
Cats are comfortable anywhere, small spaces like apartment or large mansions - it doesn't make a difference to them.
Cats are said to be able to reduce your blood pressure (most of the time).
Cats may help fight depression and loneliness. Their love is unconditional. They greet you when you come home everyday. They don't care if you are rich, poor, skinny or fat, as long as you love them back.
Cats are no sly or sneaky, they are quiet and inquisitive.
Cats are just misunderstood. It doesn't take alot to understand them.
Cats are one of the most neglected and abused animals. :(
