View Full Version : Help! Kitten using my bed as litterbox

It seems like every morning after I get up my kitten starts digging around on my bed to go to the bathroom there. She's already ruined 2 blankets. This morning I caught her before she did anything and I put her in the litterbox, where she did her business. But then 5 minutes after, she must have decided that my bed looked like a nice thing to pee on, because after I returned to my room, there was a decent sized puddle on my bed.
I cleaned the area and sprayed it down with water and vinegar (this usually gets rid of the smell so that animals can't smell it anymore, and won't be encouraged to potty there.) But there's not much more that I can do. Her litterbox is in my room, so it's not like I can just remove her from my room to stop the problem. :(
What do I do? I've never had this problem with any of my cats before.

Thanks for any advice!

Edit: My apologies, I probably should have put this in the cat behavior forum...

No worried Kiiirad hun, I can move it for you. It's also ok here too. :)

Hmmm, do you actively put your kitten in her litter box?

Have you scolded her on going potty on your bed & then put her in her litter box?

Does she do her other business in the litter box?

I wonder if the litter box could be too small for her or possibly she doesn't like the litter. 1 other thing is there might be too much litter in the box.

I've known of cats that didn't like the litter so they did their business around the box or in the general area where the box is.

Could you put the litter box in another room, like maybe the bathroom or a possible porch area? Somewhere, where she won't see your bed & want to go potty there?

Sorry your kitty is doing this.. I feel your pain. If my cat's litter box is full or anything close she'll go on my bed. I have to clean it constantly and that's the only thing that works. How often do you clean the box? The only other time she's peed on my bed was when I moved her. I guess because it was a new place and she wasn't familiar, etc.

Remember she is only a kitten and they must learn better ways, try to slowly intergrate her to a better place to poo and pee
