Do your cat(s) go outside?
If they do...
Do you think it's safe for them to be outside?
Do you let them go far?
Both of my babies are indoor cats. However when my fiance or I am outside BBQing or tending to the tomato plants we will let them outside. They only go as far as the very last stair, we don't let them roam anywhere else.
They normally will just lounge in the sun & my female Lucy will try chewing on the leaves of the tomato plants. :D
Personally I don't think the outside is a safe place for a cat. Too many other animals (wild 1's too) that could fight with them. Other people walking around, driving that could hurt them just for the "fun" of it.
No, I don't let my cat outside.. Only because there's a few strays that run around and I'm afraid they'll beat her up. :( She's snuck out a few times, but she always comes up and she looks like a fluffed up marshmellow. I guess from being spooked. It's cute though. lol

I always kept my cats inside but the three I now have were strays and they won't stay inside very long.

I used to have one of mine( Bindi) harness and leash trained, but now both are indoor only.

We have always had indoor/ outdoor cats (even when we lived in the suburbs). They usually never went too far. I firmly believe (from my experiences) that there are some cats who do prefer to be outdoors. My new rescue dee dee was raised in the shelter and I didnt want her going outside (we live in the country so its relatively safe) but she would sneak out as soon as you opened the door. She loves being outside and will cry at the door. I insist she be brought in when its cold or raining but she hates it. Our other cat Pearl has always been indoor/out door and since we moved 4 years ago she prefers to be primarily outside. I believe its safer indoors but if its safe I don't see anything wrong with letting cats out (if they want to)

My oldest cat, Fritz, who lives with my parents....she is outdoors. We tried to keep her indoors for years, but once she hit around 7 yrs old, she snuck out and has shown no interest in coming back in. Luckily, where my parents live is very safe, and I had trained her on boundaries over the years prior to moving outdoors, on a leash/harness. She won't go past the neighbor's yard. Spends most of her time lounging around the yard. She is 11 years old now and going strong. :)
My 2 cats who live with me, Jethro & Martha, are strictly indoors. I live in an apartment complex so it wouldn't be appropriate at all to let them out, plus I have no intentions on doing so, no matter where we lived.
With Martha, it was actually part of the adoption contract that she remains an indoor-only cat. :)
With Jethro, he was a very skittish stray turned into a house cat, and luckily he has not shown any desire to get back outside since I brought him in back in January.
I'd like to think that he enjoys the carefree life of an indoor cat. His only ''predator'' is Martha, so he still sleeps with one eye open unless he's sleeping at my side and knows I'll protect him from her bullying ways. :P
