Do you all prefer shy or outgoing cats?

Well my 2 cats are both of these types.

EJ is a bit more outgoing, he will come to meet people when they come by, he isn't shy about coming up to you & saying "HI"!

Lucy is more to herself, she will stay in whatever room she is in when someone comes by to visit. If/when she does come by & say HI, it's only for a little bit.

Lucy likes to always be around myself or my fiance or even the both of us. Where EJ is a bit more to himself, he's content laying on his couch or in the windows chilling out.

I don't really have a preference. If I had to pick I'd say outgoing. My cat is outgoing for sure. She makes her presense known to those around!

Long haired cats tend to be less active, which is nice if you are out much of the time and cannot play a bit with him each day. They are more tolerant of your habits.

Certain breeds are more active later in life, like Siamese and those which are a Siamese mix.

I have one of the latter. In fact, my last few were that sort. One, when I left for work, would cry much of the day - at least for the first month or so. The neighbors were going to report me to the police, thinking I'd had a baby locked up in the house. They only heard him when they were outside doing yardwork.

This one broods if my husband and I start getting dressed to go out together. He does not like being alone. Sometimes Shorthaired Orientals are clingy and if you like a cat who needs his independence and respects yours, they might not be the way to go.

We have lots of perches on the windows around the house - the kind you don't have to screw in, and he has favorites that last about a week and then he'll pick another.

We consider ourselves so lucky to have him. He's about 11 now.

I'm living with both personalities. My Slim, who is 7 and an applehead meezer is very clingy and tends to hide when I have guests. Leela, my dlh who is 5 is very very social. She acts like she's begging people to take her home with them, lol.
