I have been told by some people that canned food is not as good for cats as dry foods, others have said this is a myth. I keep meaning to ask the vet about it, but I rarely give canned anyway so I never remember to ask. Does anyone know anything about this issue?

I asked this question to my vet. She told me that it is good for your cat to have both. Dry cat foods crunchiness helps fight tartar and tooth decay. Canned food contains high water content and increases the cat's overall fluid intake, which keeps the kidneys and bladder healthy

They sell wet food at our vets, so i imagine that they would not sell you something that is bad for your cat? We feed ours both as well.

I have also had vets tell me that dry food is better than wet for the same reasons Daisy stated above. I had 3 persian cats who were fed both wet & dry whiskas etc. they lived for 14/15 years. I now have 2 more whom I only feed with dry food and not the supermarket type either (Hills science plan , Royal canin type) I am convinced this is "healthier " for them. My other cats died of ; tumours, kidney failure.. so I hope that feeding them what I do will help them to live longer...
