View Full Version : Stalker cat
lol, ok so my cat isn't a stalker, but I like to call her that. :p For the last few weeks she's been with me 24/7. If I get up to use the restroom she's right behind me. No matter where I go in the house she's always RIGHT THERE. I can't do a thing without her having to be next to me. Don't get me wrong - I don't mind this sometimes, but there are other times when I like my space but she will not give it to me.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Yeah I have that problem at times with EJ & Lucy too, especially Lucy. She will walk around the house with me & even when I get up during the night to go to the bathroom she follows me.
I don't really know what you can do to break your kitty of the habit. Do you have any toys for her that could keep her occupied & she could play on her own with them? That might help, keep her out of your hair at times.
I don't mind them following me, but it does get to me, especially when I'm trying to clean house or put away groceries. I remember stepping on EJ a few times because he got under foot.
She has a few toys including cat nip (lol), but it doesn't last for long. She'd rather hang around me all day I guess. I've stepped on her too, a few times, and I feel horrible! But she gets in the way all the time.

Hmm, how about one of those cat gym things, like those scratchers that have other things that they can play & jump on?
LOL...you could always get her a "buddy" so she can spend her time with the buddy more. :D

Yeah one of my cats, chloe, follows me everywhere, and I do mean everywhere. She even follows me into the shower, she gets between the outside curtain and the clear inside curtain and attacks the water as it hits the curtain
I actually thought about getting another cat, but I'm afraid how she'll react. She doesn't normally like change and that includes other animals. :boggled: But I figure if it's a kitten she'll be able to teach it "the ways". :p
That's cute, Petentials.. How your cat gets in the shower like that. lol

I can relate to that one. Brownie gets in between the shower curtains all of the time and here lately been trailing me all over the place. MAybe it's the time of year or maybe being female :dunno:
Just a little update..
My cat hasn't been following me around so much. There's an outside cat that meows during the day/night and I think that has her attention for now. She always tries to look out the windows and sneak a peek when I open the front door. lol Who knows how long this will last, but it's kinda nice not having her under my feet all the time!

Hee hee, she wants a playmate MOM! Give that outside cat a new home with you & your baby!
LOL...I'm soo bad, I know. :D
LOL, you are! :p
I really thought about it, but I don't know the cat's background or anything. Sometimes I see it in the neighbor's yard so I'm going to ask around and see if it belongs to anyone. If not, I'll probably look into taking it in. I feel bad because the poor thing is on the skinny side so I know it's not being fed very well, and it loves attention! omg, the little thing rubs against my legs when I'm outside and purrrrrrs like crazy! :)

I say take her in Pink! :thumb:
You could always take her to the vet when you get a chance to see how everything is going after awhile.
See if you can leave some food for her outside so she can get something to eat too.
That's pretty much how I got EJ, he was on my backporch hungry, cold & pretty lovable. He turned out to be the best cat in the world. :):cathug:
I've been leaving out food for her in the evenings because I know she's got to be hungry. Today I'm gonna run over to my neighbor's and see if they know anything about her. If not, she's mine! :D

Take her in!!! I'm sure they'll love each other :)
Ok, so I asked my neighbor and she told me someone dropped the cat off a few weeks ago and she goes from house to house looking for food. :( She can't be any older than a year or two I don't think. So I went out and bought a new litter box for her and some extra food.
This evening I went outside to see if she was around, and of course she was. I picked her up and brought her inside wondering what my other cat would think. I think it freaked her out a little bit because she's never been inside the house before.
So far she's just been sniffing around and checking things out. I was sure to show her the litter box and where her food is. My fat cat has hissed at her a few times, but I knew she would. As of right now she's sleeping on my lap. I think she's just happy she doesn't have to sleep out in the cold tonight. Now I'm just praying that my cat doesn't pee all over my stuff cause she's angry. :(

Aww Pink that's soo great sweetie, I'm really happy that you took her in! :) :whoo:
So, she is a little girl kitty?
Your big girl will be a little miffed for a bit, but give her a bit more attention than you normally do, play with her a bit, show her that she's still your baby. When she's around the new little baby if she is good to her, doesn't hiss or anything, make sure you let her know that she's a good cat, give her praise for being nice to kitty.
If your home from work at all, keep a watch on them to make sure your older cat will be ok with the younger 1. It's a good thing if your home a little bit to be there with them, it will help the adjustment period more than them being at home.
Don't force them to be together, they will go around each other when they want to on their own time.
Do both your your cats have their claws? Do you have any idea what your going to name the new little 1 yet?

Yep, she's a female! I've been trying to give Skittles attention because like you said, she's pretty miffed. LOL That's an under-statement! :p I caught them today sniffing each other out and before I knew it Skittles started swatting at the new kitty. But the thing is, the new kitty is used to being outside and having to deal with other cats so it doesn't phase her as much. She just kinda steps back like 'whatever'. lol
Yes, they both have their claws.. I never wanted to get Skittles declawed because I figured if she ever got out I want her to be able to defend herself - ya know? So I'll probably leave the new cat alone as well and just get a few scratching posts. lol And I have no clue what I'm going to name her! She's so sweet and her meow almost sounds like a cry. :( It's sweet! I'll have to think on it.
Well Congrats on your new kitty!! When you get her settled down you need to get her to a vet and have her checked out. And give us pics!!!! We want pics :) !!!!
Yeah, she'll get checked out for sure. I want to get her updated with shots and everything. My neighbor also told me to ask the vet to see if she has a chip in her neck. If she does, do you guys think I should contact the owners? I mean, they pretty much deserted her and I'm attached so I don't want to give her up. :(
I will take some pics for sure! I'm not home right now, but hopefully within the next week I'll snap a few shots and post them here.

That will happen Pink, Skittles will get angry & swat at the kitty, just make sure when that happens that they don't get into a bad tussel. With them both having their claws they could do some damage to each other. You may want to keep their claws shorter than normal so it's not so bad. It's good that the kitty doesn't swat back, maybe that will help & be an indication to Skittles that she is a peaceful cat & Skittles might stop or slow up at least.
LOL...girl Lucy still beats the mess out of EJ when she gets angry & they've been together over a year! They don't fight nearly as much as they used to, but it's clear that Lucy is the more aggressive of the 2 though. :(
Well when you take the new kitty to the vet, let him/her know how you came about finding the cat & what you found out from your neighbor. If she is chipped & the old owners info. comes up the vet will be able to make a better decision on letting her stay with you or notifying the old owners. If he knows she was "dumped off" he wouldn't want to give her back to those kinds of people. Also, let him know that you don't want to give her up now.
Give it some time on naming her, get to know her more & her personality, before you know it, a name will pop up. :)

Well I am glad that you took her in. It sounds as if she will have a good home with you :) As far as your other baby...just give it time they will settle down together and get used to it. The claw thing as I have said before I clip mine's claws so I don't have too much of an issue w/that. And As far as the chip goes....As Sappire said tell the vet what happened and how you ended up w/her. I am sure he will help and understand. We're still waiting on pics ;)

Any updates on how your new kitty is doing Pink? :)
She is doing well. Her favorite place to sleep is on the couch.. I have this really soft blanket, and she's obsessed with it. I guess it keeps her warm so I let her have it. Both of the cats have been getting along a lot better now. No one is hissing, but I catch them staring from time to time. :p Both of them seem happy so far and I'm gonna take Cali (new kitty) to the vet this weekend to get her shots updated and check for worms. :)

Very nice, sounds like Skittles & Cali are adjusting nicely, I'm really happy to hear that hun. :)
LOL...don't you just wish you could figure out what they are thinking when they "stare" at each other? I sure wish I could read kitty minds when I see Lucy & EJ doing that too. The looks alone in their eyes get me a little like, maybe I'm glad I can't read minds! :catlol:
lmao, exactly!
This morning I woke up and went out to get the paper and Cali followed me outside (which I let her).. And so she went straight for the grass and started rolling around like a dog. LOL I don't know what she was thinking, but it sure was cute. I walked over to her and rubbed her tummy a little and let her do her thing in the grass. Then I started heading back to the door. When I did, she ran right up behind me almost saying "don't leave me out here!" LOL! Too cute! So she came back inside with me and I fed her and Skittles both.
Right now Skittles is laying next to me and Cali is tearing the heck out of one of Skittles' toys filled with cat nip. And I promise to get pics within the next few days!

Aww aren't they cute?? So Cali is a long haired cat huh? Do you brush her alot? Cali looks like she has some tortie coloring like my Lucy or persian's brownie in her.
They both look like happy, content kitties! :)

They are so cute!!! I think your right about Cali, Sapphire. She looks a litte tortie :) Skittles looks very content...lol!!
Thanks, ladies. :) Yep, I brush Cali almost daily.. If not her hair gets kinda tangled and she sheds a lot! All of my black clothing has turned brown because of her, lol. She LOVES laundry fresh out of the dryer. OMG that cat is so crazy. lol And yes, Skittles is lazy. She is so in love with that blanket she's sleeping on. I don't get to use it anymore because she's taken it over!

LOL...Cali is like my Lucy Pink, she loves clothes out of the dryer too. I put the clothes on the bed to fold them & she just has to lay all over them. She loves to play with the socks too.
Isn't it funny how our cats just "take" things they fall in love with & we don't get to use them anymore? Such little stinkers they all are. :p

My cat's do that too sometimes...LOL...I've figured out why though, they want treats. As soon as I give them a couple, they are gone, they don't know me anymore. :D
