I always worry about what table scraps may or may not harm my cats so I just dont let them have the scraps, I feed them moist and dry cat food and offer cat treats, rather than table scraps.

We feed our cats fish all the time. We buy fish at the market and cooked them and we then mixed it with rice. They all loved it. Fresh fish or uncooked ones are also their favorite.

we dont let our cats have our food either, because we are afraid they would eat something that could make them sick, mine really like the canned cat food mixed right into the dry, and they eat better if I mix it together, and they love pounce cat treats.

onion and garlic can cause a type of anemia
Onions contain a compound which is toxic to the red blood cells of cats. The red blood cells are destroyed and this results in anemia. The specific type of anemia is called 'Heinz body anemia' because the red cells develop an abnormality called a 'Heinz body' which can be seen under the microscope.
In the past, when a cat would not eat, baby foods were sometimes used to coax the cat to eat. Unfortunately, the baby foods contained onion powder, and some cats developed Heinz body anemia from eating the onion-containing baby food. Caution should be used in feeding 'human' food to cats because it may contain ingredients that cats cannot tolerate, such as onion.
Garlic contains a compound similar to the one in onions that causes Heinz body anemia, however, the garlic compound is much less toxic.

I don't glve my cats anything extra apart from very occasional cat treats perhaps a couple of times a week. Perhaps some plain chicken with nothing added and just chopped into their food. My vet says it is usually the owners who feel that cats are lacking something and a treat of food is needed but then that can possibly lead to them being overweight, greedy, trying to get at other food etc. My 3 adore their food which dry pellets of a trademark called Royal Canin, or Hills. I don't know if you can get those brands outside the UK but they are recommended by vets here. Mine are doing well on them, and there are various ones for indoor cats, overweight cats, sensitive stomachs and lots of others. Alternate days I divide a Hills or Royal Canin wet pouch of food between their three bowls just so they have a bit of variety. I also change their water bowl twice a day.
