As you all probably have seen from my pictures of EJ, he's a very long haired cat, plus his hair is thick.

I know I need to brush him more than once a week, but that's about all that I can get in. He doesn't mind being brushed, but between work things & home I can't find the time to brush him more.

Anyway...he gets knots pretty easily. How can or what can I do to stop him from getting knots so easily? Is there a good brush I can use that will help detangle him?

Alot of times, the knots will get so tight that I have to cut the knot away & then he looks a little bit "patchy". The hair grows back but I want to try to avoid that, you know.

Do you all have some tips on how to help me keep him looking good & knot free?

What I used to do with one of my former cats who was like that, I tried to keep her hair trimmed. Does he normal get them around is neck/throat area? Sheba always did. I kept it trimmed back. Not cut just a little shorter than the rest of her fur.

Yeah EJ will get little one's around his cheek area & sometimes on his throat. The worst 1's are on his outer thighs, I think that comes from him cleaning himself in that area, he matts his hair up when cleaning himself.

I've noticed how his hair gets wet & kind of clumped together after he cleans himself. I wish sometimes I could brush him right when I know he's done cleaning himself, but I just don't always have the time.

You know, my fiance has been talking about taking EJ to a groomer & getting him a good wash, possible trim & see how his hair is after that, I just might do that, but now I want to wait until next year when the weather gets warmer. I don't want to be carting him in & out of the colder months when his hair may still be at least a little wet, I don't want a sick kitty.

Well I got to brushing & *sigh* cutting some of EJ's knots yesterday. He's such a good boy, he will let me do what I have to do. :)

I also have good news I made some headway with Lucy yesterday. She let me brush her for about 5 minutes! :whoo: She did try to get away a couple times, but when I caught her & brought her back she didn't cry & complain. I got a nice amount of hair & some dandruff off her.

Now both my babies feel soo soft! :catpet:

Aw, I'm glad she stayed still for ya! And I'm also thankful my cat doesn't have long hair. :p

Well good I am glad that they got a little grooming. They all can be a little finicky at times...LOL!!
