View Full Version : Why Do Cats Suck You In For The Kill?

My cat is so pretty and sweet most of the time, he is a male, fixed, 5 years old, had him since the day he was 4 weeks old, he is one of those pretty black and white cats, really common kind of cat, don't know if they have a name for this breed, but he looks like a dairy cow.
Anyways, he will come up and love on you, rub you everywhere, roll over and get on your shoulders and play with his face in your hair FOREVER, but the bad part is you can just be petting him and all of sudden he wraps his paws around your wrist and bites your hand.
WHAT'S UP WITH THAT????:scared1:

I have had the same thing with my 3 cats Janet.
I think it's an over stimulation thing with cats, they get a little excited by the attention you are giving to them. It's not a sexual thing, but more like, "ahh this feels soo good", type of thing.
Does he bite hard? My EJ does that alot, but he won't ever bite hard.

Nope, he never brings blood, but it does hurt sometimes. And why does he hate for anyone to touch his belly. I have found that most cats hate for you to touch the belly.

I've heard that the belly is a very sensitive & vulnerable thing for a cat Janet. He may not like his belly rubbed because he either doesn't like it or he may not trust you completely to rub his belly.
My Lucy doesn't like her belly rubbed at all, I can start to do it, but like a second or 2 later, she's off to bite me or growl like crazy. Now my EJ likes his belly scratched, he'll lay there forever purring & looking all "gooey" because he's so relaxed. My EJ will lay on his back all the time & I've heard that's a sign of trust & that he's really relaxed in his surroundings.
Skittles doesn't like her belly rubbed either. I've tried it when she was laying on her back and she tried to kick me with her hind legs! So I don't do it anymore. :p She's done the same thing with loving on me and then biting.. It does hurt, but I don't know how to stop it either.

Hi Janet,
in my experience if a cat does what you describe :-
"Anyways, he will come up and love on you, rub you everywhere, roll over and get on your shoulders and play with his face in your hair FOREVER, but the bad part is you can just be petting him and all of sudden he wraps his paws around your wrist and bites your hand.

I believe it is his way of showing you his 'love' for you .. sometimes this can & may lead to a little 'blood' drawn...but I do not believe it is on purpose at all ..just the cat becoming over excited with 'happiness' and showing you his affection in return.
As far as "tummy stroking/tickling" I believe they are like humans ....some are ticklish whilst others love it ! Many years ago I had a Black persian male who used to love being 'sucked' with a Hoover as well as being blow dried !!!!!!!
All cats have their own individual personality!

I have had three cats and the only one that liked the belly rub was Sheba...but of course she liked the back massager too...LOL!!!
Zoya would play like I was another cat and she would even get really rough...I would have to push her away.
Brownie (my current cat) will play rough but not so rough to hurt.....she likes to curl up in the crook of my arm with her two front paws stretched out in front of her.
Cats are weird creatures aren't they?
