Well we FINALLY got enough money together to take Lady in so that we can get her spayed & declawed.

I took her in today for her shots & a quick check up. Well guess what, the vet found that she has ear mites. :( So now I have this medicine that I have to give to her, EJ & Lucy 1 time a day, 5 drops a day in each ear.

Have any of you ever given drops of any kind anywhere on a cat, let alone 3?? :scared1: Needless to say, my 3 are not happy campers & to be honest I'm pretty mad myself. My 2 EJ & Lucy never had ear mites & wouldn't have had them if my fiance would have let me put Lady in a shelter like I wanted to after we found her outside. Anyway...getting off subject here....

Now I have an appt. to go back to the vet next week Wed. to get her spayed & declawed. Wish us luck on that & I will be back to update you all on how the surgery went on Thursday when I pick her up.

I do love Lady, but I'm not liking the extra costs incurred to get her all set up. My other 2 cats have been really low maintainence & this 1 I have the feeling is going to be the money pit. :(

What are the best alternatives to declawing?
I must admit that I really don't like the idea of declawing.
I got covers for my sofas, and in my new place I can close the living room door - so that's not a problem, but the rest of the rooms remain open...

Clip the claws, or get a small dremel tool to file them down. It won't stop the clawing, but it does help. Also, get them scratching posts and teach them where the "good" places to scratch are.

I've been going back & forth with getting Lady de-clawed. The only reason I really want to is my other 2 older cats are de-clawed & Lady has knicked EJ's eye once in play.

My 2 have no defenses from Lady while she has too much. I always worry about when EJ & Lady play because Lady plays really hard with him. I always see trufts of his hair around the house when I come home. I think that's his saving grace that he's such a thick long haired cat, otherwise he might have some battle scars.

I've never had to spay or neuter my cats (they were done before I got them), so Lady having the operation will be something new for us as well. I've already asked the vet tons of questions & will probably have more for them tomorrow...LOL!!

I got my little babygirl Lady home with me now. :cat: She came through the surgeries just fine. The vet told me that she was very scared being there over night & that she didn't eat all that much when they fed her.

It was so cute as I was bringing her up the front of the house she knew she was coming home, she was moving around in her carrier & moving even more as I was bringing her up the stairs. As soon as I brought her in the house, she stuck her paw out the little door & couldn't wait for me to open that door. My big boy EJ was right there sniffing on her & he now looks pretty happy to have her home again.

I gave them all cans of wet food to celebrate Lady coming home, she chowed down on the food, drank some water & used the litter box already. :) Right now she's laying on the bed, probably going to sleep, I put a little blanket over her & I'll keep an eye on her for when she needs to get down, I'll try to pick her up so she doesn't have to jump.

My Lucy has been sniffing Lady & she's on the bed too, but she's given Lady alot of room, in fact Lucy is sleeping on my pillow...LOL! So I think (hoping) that Lucy will be good to Lady & maybe this will help bond them a little bit. Lucy's had a hard time adjusting to having Lady around, Lucy's been the queen of the house & she's determined to stay that way...LOL!

I'm just glad that Lady is home, I realized I do love that little ball of fur. Even though she's given us some trials with her being a kitten I do love her & I'm glad she's home now. :cathug:
